The Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University is seeking a licensed psychologist for the David Farber ASPIRE Center, a suicide prevention specialty center serving adults and youth. The Center is also a Community Treatment and Services Center within the National Child Traumatic Stress Network. The position is based in an academic setting focused on suicide prevention research and education, with outpatient clinical operations functioning as a satellite to the department’s larger outpatient psychiatric practice. The Center provides individual psychotherapy, family therapy, and group therapy in person and through telehealth. Medication management is available in collaboration with the department. Its clinical model emphasizes family involvement and family-based intervention for youth and adult patients, including partnering with families throughout treatment. Strong candidates have experience serving high-risk populations through a trauma-informed and affirming approach, particularly people with suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Training in evidence-based practices for treating suicidal individuals is preferred; the Center will provide training when needed. Experience providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy is especially encouraged. The psychologist evaluates and treats patients, collaborates with healthcare teams within their scope of practice, coordinates patient care, maintains licensure and privileges, and may supervise residents, fellows, and medical students as needed. The role includes documenting and coding patient encounters, using evidence-based guidelines and resources efficiently, and supporting quality patient-centered care. The position will be filled when an appropriately qualified candidate is identified.
