Licensed Psychologist at the David Farber ASPIRE Center

Thomas Jefferson University•Philadelphia, PA

About The Position

The Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University, is seeking a licensed psychologist for the David Farber ASPIRE Center, a suicide prevention specialty center serving adults and youth. The Center is also a Community Treatment and Services Center within the National Child Traumatic Stress Network. The clinical setting is part of an academic center focused on suicide prevention research and education, and its outpatient operations function as a satellite of the department’s larger outpatient psychiatric practice. The Center offers individual, family, and group therapy in person and through telehealth, with medication management available in collaboration with the department. Its clinical model emphasizes family involvement and family-based intervention for both youth and adults. The psychologist evaluates and treats patients, works independently within their scope of practice, collaborates with health care teams, coordinates patient care, and may supervise residents, fellows, and medical students. The role also includes maintaining licensure and privileges, documenting and coding encounters, using evidence-based guidelines and resources, and contributing to patient-centered care and community health. Candidates should have experience working with high-risk populations through a trauma-informed and affirming lens, particularly people with suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Training in evidence-based practices for treating suicidal individuals is preferred, and the Center will provide training when needed. Experience providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy is especially encouraged. Candidates from underrepresented backgrounds and those who advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in clinical service and supervision are encouraged to apply. A documented history of serving historically underserved communities is ideal; bilingual English-Spanish therapists are highly encouraged to apply. The position will be filled when an appropriately qualified candidate is identified.
