About The Position

Geisinger Convenient Care is a walk-in clinic providing convenient healthcare for family health needs, including physicals, immunizations, and treatment for common illnesses and minor health issues. The Licensed Practical Nurse provides primary clinical support to providers, patients, and their families in diagnosing and treating patient conditions. The role follows up on diagnostic testing to support continuity and quality of care and helps maintain a clean clinical environment. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. The position is per diem with flexible hours.

Requirements

• Graduate from a specialty training program in nursing.
• Licensed Practical Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Communication, computer literacy, customer service, multitasking, and teamwork skills.
• Meet qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range served by the assigned clinical area.

• At least 1 year of nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient medical history, chief complaint, and vital signs, and prepare patients for examinations.
• Provide direct clinical care as directed by the provider.
• Follow up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in the medical record.
• Assist providers with minor surgical and diagnostic procedures and ancillary diagnostic examinations.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and complete associated paperwork.
• Document ongoing patient communications, prioritize communications to the provider, and respond to patient questions and requests as directed.
• Administer medications and vaccines, including intradermal and skin testing, under provider direction and within scope of practice.
• Clean and set up examination and treatment rooms between cases, maintaining asepsis and ensuring instruments, equipment, and patient preparation needs are met.
• Promote a clean environment and comply with organization policies and job-specific obligations.
