LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - Convenient Care
About The Position
Geisinger Convenient Care is a walk-in clinic providing convenient family healthcare, including physicals, immunizations, and treatment for common illnesses and minor health issues. The Licensed Practical Nurse provides primary clinical support to providers, patients, and their families in diagnosing and treating patient conditions. The role includes collecting patient information, providing direct clinical care under provider direction, supporting diagnostic procedures, administering medications and vaccines within scope of practice, and maintaining clean, prepared examination and treatment rooms. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. The position is scheduled for 37.5 hours per week with rotational weekends.
Requirements
- Graduate from a specialty training program in nursing.
- Licensed Practical Nurse license.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Skills in communication, computer literacy, customer service, multitasking, and teamwork.

Responsibilities
- Obtain and document patient medical history, chief complaint, and vital signs, and prepare patients for examinations.
- Provide direct clinical care as directed by the provider.
- Assist providers with minor surgical and diagnostic procedures and ancillary diagnostic examinations.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and complete associated paperwork.
- Follow up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in the medical record.
- Document ongoing patient communication, prioritize messages to the provider, and respond to patient questions and requests as directed.
- Administer medications and vaccines, including intradermal medications and skin testing, under provider direction and within scope of practice.
- Clean and set up examination and treatment rooms between cases, maintaining asepsis and ensuring appropriate instruments and equipment are available.
- Promote a clean clinical environment.
- Meet qualifications to provide care for patients in the age range served by the assigned clinical area.
- Comply with organization policies and procedures and satisfy job-specific obligations.
