LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - Convenient Care
About The Position
Geisinger Convenient Care is a walk-in clinic offering convenient healthcare for family health needs, including physicals, immunizations, and treatment for common illnesses and minor conditions. The Licensed Practical Nurse provides primary clinical support to providers, patients, and their families in diagnosing and treating patients. The role supports continuity and quality of care by following up on diagnostic testing and ensuring its completion, accuracy, and filing in the medical record. The nurse also promotes a clean clinical environment and provides care for patients in the age range assigned to the clinical area. The typical schedule is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, with rotational weekends. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. The position requires a nursing specialty training program, an active Licensed Practical Nurse license, and Basic Life Support certification. One year of nursing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Obtain and document patient medical history, chief complaint, and vital signs; provide the provider with basic medical information and prepare patients for examinations.
- Provide direct clinical care as directed by the provider.
- Assist the provider with minor surgical and diagnostic procedures and ancillary diagnostic examinations.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and complete related paperwork accurately and efficiently.
- Document ongoing patient communications, prioritize communications to the provider, and respond to patient questions and requests as directed.
- Administer medications and vaccines, including intradermal medications and skin testing, under provider direction and within scope of practice.
- Clean and prepare examination and treatment rooms between cases; maintain required asepsis and ensure the availability of appropriate instruments and equipment.
- Follow up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in the medical record.
- Promote a clean environment and comply with job-specific obligations and organizational policies and procedures.
