About The Position

America’s Best, part of National Vision, is hiring a Licensed Optician - Assistant Manager to oversee the eyeglass department and support the daily operations of a store. The role focuses on achieving sales and performance goals, maintaining operational standards, providing an outstanding customer experience, and supervising and developing associates. The Assistant Manager also supports the General Manager with staffing, recruiting, selection, and retention. Stores are closed on Sundays.

Requirements

Maintain an optical license as required by the state.
Optical sales experience.
Proven ability to lead, coach, and build associate relationships.
Sound understanding of store operations and standards for success.
Strong oral and written communication skills for effective team management.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Strong organizational skills for planning work and monitoring progress toward goals.
Ability to analyze, create, and understand financial reports.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems of varied scope.
ABO and NCLE certified.

Supervising experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Drive, monitor, and achieve profit, sales, and performance goals according to National Vision standards.
Monitor retail operating costs, budgets, and resources.
Oversee and optimize the eyeglass department to ensure efficiency and compliance with company policies and operational guidelines.
Identify opportunities for improvement and create action plans.
Promote outstanding customer service and ensure associates provide it consistently.
Ensure quality standards are met.
Ensure merchandising and execution of marketing, pricing promotions, and initiatives follow brand and company standards.
Supervise and motivate Opticians and Contact Lens Sales associates, and in some stores the Receptionist; ensure timely completion of daily functions.
Assist the General Manager with forecasting staffing needs, recruiting, selecting, and retaining staff.
Lead and coach associates toward sales and customer service goals.
Mentor potential Apprentice Opticians as permitted by law.
