About The Position

American Girl’s New York City retail store is seeking a part-time salon stylist for its Girls Hair Salon. The stylist provides salon services to girls, delivering a premium experience in a friendly, fast-paced children’s retail environment. The role calls for a positive, engaging, and professional approach that helps create lasting memories. The stylist provides a broad range of hair services for different hair lengths and textures, nail services including colorful manicures, and ear-piercing services for girls and dolls. The stylist must know the salon’s services and products, follow legal and salon sanitation and sterilization standards, answer questions, assist customers, and resolve concerns. Weekend availability is required. The posting lists an hourly range of $20–$22; its final compensation line separately lists $19–$22 hourly.

Requirements

• Hold a current, unexpired New York State cosmetology license.
• Have the ability and experience to style hair in various styles and perform nail services.
• Be able to engage with children and adult customers while doing hair or nails.
• Be able to perform ear piercing for girls.
• Bring high energy and experience in a fast-paced service environment, with a passion for quality service.
• Work as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
• Be available for a flexible retail schedule that includes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, evenings, and some holidays.
