About The Position

LAC Federal is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Library Clerk to support collection maintenance activities for a large federal library in Washington, D.C. The role is performed on-site, and duties primarily involve shifting materials as part of a large collection move. The position is full-time, with flexible work hours.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Attention to detail.
Ability to develop knowledge of standard law library policies, procedures, and services related to one or more library functions.
Organizational skills and initiative to manage multiple tasks and deadlines and work independently.
Ability to learn and follow complex procedures and policies.
Ability to move around the work location; lift, push, pull, hold, and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 35 pounds.
Ability to sit for long periods and maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of languages other than English.

Responsibilities

Sort, arrange, and transport library materials for shelving.
Shift large quantities of collection materials as part of a team to facilitate replacement shelving.
Break down materials, including separating and sorting items on book trucks.
Identify materials requiring follow-up for collection stabilization and rehousing.
Maintain detailed activity logs.
Shelf-read and review shelves for call-number order accuracy.
Refile out-of-place items or route them to the proper location.
Identify problem materials according to written procedures.
