Lease Review Specialist
About The Position
The Lease Review Specialist reviews lease data and clause abstractions for permanent retail leases to confirm that lease information is accurately reflected in Tanger’s MRI lease database. The role provides guidance and support to the third-party lease abstraction team, contributes to evaluating and improving clause abstraction and review practices, and performs administrative tasks in support of the Lease Accounting department. The position involves reviewing leases, licenses, modifications, and terminations; checking that clause abstractions and lease data accurately reflect executed documents; communicating process updates and corrections; maintaining process documentation; and assisting with special projects. It offers independent and collaborative work in a flexible, Teams-driven workplace.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate.
- At least 2 years of experience in auditing, abstracting, editing, or drafting legal documents.
- Experience with MRI or comparable software.
- Superior reading comprehension and editing skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize workflow, meet deadlines, and solve problems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
- Intermediate or higher proficiency in Microsoft Office, including solid Excel skills and the ability to build and maintain spreadsheets.
- Ability to use company-issued software proficiently.

Responsibilities
- Review leases, licenses, modifications, and terminations to ensure clause abstractions are abbreviated, edited, and understandable representations of the original documents.
- Review lease clause “Matrix” or data elements to ensure the data is accurately reflected.
- Communicate process updates and corrections to the abstraction team.
- Confirm that economics and other provisions reflect the executed document.
- Maintain current process documentation relating to lease clauses.
- Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
- Provide guidance and support to the third-party lease abstraction team.
- Perform administrative tasks in support of the Lease Accounting department.
