About The Position

The Learning Experience Designer is the primary design expert within the Leadership Capability & Learning Center of Excellence (COE), translating strategic capability priorities into engaging and effective development experiences, including e-learning and instructor-led training. Working in close partnership with the Sr. Manager, Leadership Capability, the designer brings strategic direction to life through creative, adult-learning-informed solutions, with significant creative autonomy. The role also serves as the COE’s visual design standard-bearer, owning visual standards, templates, and the quality and consistency of the function’s communications and learning materials. The designer creates immersive and practical learning experiences, establishes visual design standards, and owns the internal instructional design and learning production tools. The role experiments with emerging technologies, including AI, immersive platforms, and adaptive learning, and partners with Learning Operations on technology decisions affecting leader-facing platforms. The position also requires following established UDX Environmental, Health & Safety policies, procedures, training, and team-member involvement activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Learning Technology, experience design, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience supported by a portfolio.
  • At least 3 years of experience designing and building learning or development experiences end to end.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Adobe Captivate, or equivalent.
  • Strong visual design and visual communication skills, supported by a portfolio demonstrating high-quality work across multiple formats and modalities.
  • Portfolio submission with the application is required.
  • Working knowledge of adult learning theory and learning science, and the ability to explain why design choices work and how they relate to adult learning.
  • Experience designing learning beyond the classroom, such as simulations, scenario-based learning, experiential modules, or immersive digital learning assets.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint or equivalent presentation design at a high visual standard.
  • Consistent attendance is a job requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI-powered learning tools, immersive learning platforms, or adaptive learning technologies.
  • Experience establishing or contributing to visual design standards, template systems, or brand guidelines for a team or function.
  • Background in experience design, interaction design, or UX, including outside an L&D context.
  • Experience in a COE, consulting environment, or complex matrixed organization where strategic direction was often ambiguous and design solutions had to be developed without a complete brief.
  • Experience in a fast-moving, operationally complex industry such as hospitality, entertainment, or retail, where practicality and speed matter alongside craft quality.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build simulations, scenario-based experiences, experiential labs, and immersive learning environments that place leaders in realistic situations and require decision-making.
  • Develop engaging e-learning and digital learning assets that extend development into the flow of work.
  • Translate defined capability priorities and design direction into concrete learning experiences and creative solutions.
  • Rapidly prototype, pilot with learners, gather feedback, and iterate, optimizing for behavior change.
  • Build a reusable library of design assets, templates, and components to accelerate future work and promote consistency.
  • Establish and maintain visual design standards for COE deliverables, including program materials, participant guides, presentations, and digital assets.
  • Create a practical, flexible, usable template library that helps others maintain design standards.
  • Use visual storytelling to make the narrative of programs, modules, and assets intentional alongside their instructional design.
  • Translate complex leadership concepts, capability frameworks, and development models into clear visuals for diverse audiences.
  • Improve how the COE communicates its strategy, impact, and value through decks, one-pagers, infographics, and other visual formats.
  • Own internal instructional design and learning production tools, including selecting and managing them and maintaining proficiency.
  • Monitor and experiment with emerging learning technologies, including AI-powered development tools, immersive and simulation platforms, and adaptive learning technologies.
  • Advise on changes the COE should make based on developments in the field and challenge existing approaches.
  • Partner with Learning Operations on technology decisions affecting leader-facing platforms, supporting alignment on sustainability, budget, and operational support.
  • Integrate AI into design and delivery to support more personalized, scalable, and effective development.
  • Follow established UDX Environmental, Health & Safety policies, procedures, training, and team-member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
