Learning Experience Designer

Universal Orlando•Orlando, FL

About The Position

As Learning Experience Designer within the Leadership Capability & Learning COE, you are the team’s primary design expert, translating strategic capability priorities into engaging and effective development experiences such as e-learning and instructor-led training. You create modern, immersive learning solutions and work closely with the Sr. Manager, Leadership Capability, who sets strategic design direction by diagnosing capability gaps and defining desired behavior change. Within that partnership, you bring creative autonomy, adult-learning expertise, and ideas about tools, technologies, and emerging practices that can make learning more effective. You are also the COE’s visual and design standard-bearer. You own the function’s visual design standards and templates so its deliverables have a consistent look and feel. The role includes building and iterating learning experiences, establishing reusable design resources, managing instructional design and production tools, exploring learning technology, and contributing to environmental, health, and safety responsibilities under established UDX policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Learning Technology, experience design, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience supported by a portfolio.
  • At least 3 years of experience designing and building learning or development experiences end to end.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Adobe Captivate, or equivalent.
  • Strong visual design and visual communication skills, demonstrated through high-quality work across multiple formats and modalities.
  • Portfolio submission is required with the application.
  • Working knowledge of adult learning theory and learning science, including the ability to explain why design choices work and how they relate to adult learning.
  • Experience designing beyond the classroom, such as simulations, scenario-based learning, experiential modules, or immersive digital learning assets.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint or an equivalent presentation-design tool at a high visual standard.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties satisfactorily; reasonable accommodation may be made for individuals with disabilities.
  • Consistent attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI-powered learning tools, immersive learning platforms, or adaptive learning technologies.
  • Experience establishing or contributing to visual design standards, template systems, or brand guidelines for a team or function.
  • Background in experience design, interaction design, or UX, including outside an L&D context.
  • Experience in a COE, consulting environment, or complex matrixed organization where strategic direction was often ambiguous and design solutions had to be developed without a complete brief.
  • Experience in a fast-moving, operationally complex industry such as hospitality, entertainment, or retail, where practicality and speed matter alongside craft quality.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build simulations, scenario-based experiences, experiential labs, and immersive learning environments that place leaders in realistic situations and require real decisions.
  • Develop engaging, high-quality e-learning and digital learning assets that extend development into the flow of work.
  • Translate capability priorities and strategic design direction into concrete learning experiences and creative solutions.
  • Prototype rapidly, pilot with learners, gather feedback, and iterate, prioritizing behavior change over production polish.
  • Build reusable design assets, templates, and components to accelerate future work and maintain consistency across the COE portfolio.
  • Establish and maintain visual design standards for COE deliverables, including program materials, participant guides, presentations, and digital assets.
  • Create a practical, flexible, easy-to-use template library that helps others maintain design standards.
  • Apply visual storytelling to leadership experiences and make complex leadership concepts, capability frameworks, and development models immediately legible to varied audiences.
  • Improve how the COE communicates its strategy, impact, and value through decks, one-pagers, infographics, and other visual formats.
  • Own internal instructional design and learning production tools, including selecting and managing tools and maintaining proficiency in them.
  • Monitor and experiment with emerging learning technologies, including AI-powered development tools, immersive and simulation platforms, and adaptive learning technologies.
  • Offer a point of view on potential improvements to the COE’s learning practices and challenge existing approaches where appropriate.
  • Partner with Learning Operations on technology decisions involving leader-facing platforms, aligning on sustainability, budget, and operational support.
  • Integrate AI into design and delivery to support more personalized, scalable, and effective development.
  • Follow established UDX environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures, training, and team-member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package.
