About The Position

The University of Notre Dame is hiring a full-time Overnight Lead Dish Steward for its campus Hospitality department within the Operations, Events, and Safety division. The Lead Steward is a key leader responsible for maintaining kitchen cleanliness, safety, and efficiency. The role includes core dishroom and kitchen tasks, inventory management, and event planning to help ensure the team is prepared to deliver an exceptional experience.

Requirements

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and organization.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, bend to clean floor drains, and climb equipment or ladders.
• Dependability and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Oversee cleaning of dishware, pots, utensils, and glassware, following procedures to minimize breakage.
• Prepare the dishwasher, ensure it is loaded properly, and return cleaned items to their correct storage areas.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and order supplies and equipment.
• Coordinate with the culinary department to plan food, supplies, and staffing for scheduled banquets and events.
• Oversee daily sanitation procedures, remove trash, and perform cleaning tasks such as mopping floors and deep cleaning kitchen areas as directed by a supervisor.
• Ensure the team upholds the Pillars of Hospitality: Welcoming, Consistent, Professional, and Joyful.
