About The Position

The Lead Sales Associate delivers an exceptional customer experience by capturing customer attention, engaging them in conversation, providing product knowledge, and maintaining inviting product displays. This role contributes to the achievement of daily and monthly sales goals. The position is part-time, non-exempt, and unionized, with a minimum rate of $17.41/hr. The Lead Sales Associate acts as the manager on duty in the absence of the store manager, performing management functions such as opening and closing the store, making deposits, and processing returns. Key duties include conducting computerized register transactions, maintaining overall store appearance through restocking and merchandising, assisting with storage area organization, supporting staff with special projects like inventory and clearance sales, and completing assigned projects.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Customer service, sales, or retail experience required - minimum of 5 years required.
  • Knowledge and ability to use POS/computer registers.
  • Professional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a group setting.
  • Capable of establishing respectful, supportive and cooperative working relationships within the department, the Museum, and the community.
  • Contributes to an overall positive Store environment.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, accepting of challenges, and can be flexible.
  • Maintains professional appearance and follows Museum Store dress guidelines.
  • Capable of standing for extended lengths of time.
  • Able to walk, reach, stoop, or bend.
  • Ability to lift 20lbs.
  • Schedule includes evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Required to attend store staff training sessions.
  • Flexible for staffing needs for special or after hour events.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate (two-year degree) or college education in business or art related field a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties required of a Museum Store Associate.
  • Acts as manager on duty in absence of store manager, performing management functions including opening & closing store, making deposits, and doing returns.
  • Conducts and completes computerized register transactions, including sales, returns, and gift certificates.
  • Opens and/or closes the store, reconciling the register and receipts.
  • Responsible for the overall store appearance, including restocking of displays, merchandising of new products, neatness, and general organization.
  • Assists with light cleaning: dusting, sweeping, organizing merchandise.
  • Assists with organization and maintenance of storage areas.
  • Assists staff with special projects: i.e. inventory, special orders, clearance sales and museum events.
  • Completes projects as assigned by Store Managers, Buying Staff or Director.
