The job overview for the Lead Product Designer role at Zapier is to shape the future of the product and drive innovation across the business. The focus of this role is on the customer-facing logged-in experience and the partner-facing integration tools. The Lead Product Designer will tackle high-impact problems, shape vision, translate vision into tangible projects, drive organizational collaboration, and provide mentorship and leadership to other designers on the team.
Responsibilities
- Play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the product and driving innovation across the business
- Focus on high-impact problems in the customer-facing logged-in experience and partner-facing integration tools
- Explore new strategic areas and make sense of ambiguous challenges
- Design valuable digital products for significant user bases
- Understand the product development process and apply design methods and best practices for user-centered design
- Identify key gaps in the customer experience and opportunities for improvement
- Grasp and articulate the broader vision and objectives of a product
- Break down complex ideas into tangible projects and initiatives aligned with the overall product strategy
- Maintain alignment with the overall product strategy and make informed decisions that support strategic directions
- Communicate effectively with senior leaders, partners, stakeholders, and team members
- Drive the execution of projects, balancing multiple priorities and overcoming obstacles
- Leverage research and data to inform decision-making and measure the success of work
- Mentor and coach designers, enhance design practices, and facilitate collaborative sessions
- Tackle high-impact problems, design innovative solutions, and address user needs
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to develop clear and compelling vision work
- Translate high-level vision and strategic objectives into tangible projects and initiatives
- Drive organizational collaboration and communicate design direction and strategy
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment, encouraging the team to share work and explore new ideas.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience designing valuable digital products for significant user bases
- Strong understanding of the product development process
- Well-versed in design methods, processes, and best practices for user-centered design
- Ability to think broadly and holistically and identify gaps in the customer experience
- Strategic mindset and ability to articulate the broader vision and objectives of a product
- Ability to align with product strategy and make informed decisions
- Clear and persuasive communication skills
- Results-oriented with strong project management skills
- Ability to leverage research and data to inform design decisions
- Skilled mentor, coach, and design leader
- Ability to tackle complex, undefined problems and design innovative solutions
- Collaborative and able to drive organizational collaboration
