Lead Math Instructor / Tutor
About The Position
Mathnasium is a neighborhood math-only learning center serving students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The Lead Math Instructor creates a welcoming environment for students and families and provides individualized math instruction in a group setting. Instructors are trained in the Mathnasium Method™, teaching practices, and instructional materials. The role also includes assessing student progress, communicating with the Center Manager and staff, supporting center operations, and maintaining a safe, professional learning environment. The position is in-person and part-time, with three shifts per week. Required availability is at least three days a week during the listed Monday–Thursday afternoon/evening or Sunday hours; Sunday availability is preferred.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Passion for math and working with students.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Eagerness to learn and be trained.
- Exceptional math competency through at least Algebra I.
- Ability to balance leadership and instructional responsibilities.
- Availability at least three days a week during the stated schedule: Monday–Thursday, 3 p.m.–7 p.m., and/or Sunday, 12 p.m.–4 p.m.
- Take a math literacy test, provide work authorization, and pass a background check.

Responsibilities
- Teach or tutor in-center, online, and/or through hybrid delivery using the Mathnasium Method™, terminology, and teaching practices.
- Collaborate with team members to provide individualized instruction in a group setting.
- Assess students’ learning progress and engagement during instructional sessions.
- Become proficient with digital educational materials and processes.
- Help maintain a safe and professional learning environment.
- Assist with administrative tasks as needed.
- Communicate with the Center Manager and staff about student progress.
