About The Position

The Lead Housekeeper is responsible for regularly planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the work flow in the EVS department and keeping the supervisor informed of deviations from the regular schedule. This role also involves assisting with on-the-job training for EVS staff and new hires to ensure they are familiar with responsibilities, the use of new equipment, and cleaning methods. The Lead Housekeeper demonstrates a cost-conscious awareness of time usage, continually striving to make the best use of time during the assigned shift through careful coordination of daily tasks. They oversee the ordering and distribution of linen to ensure established par levels are maintained to meet patient care needs. The Lead Housekeeper consistently recognizes the overall function of the hospital in view of total patient care, considering the entire scope and ramifications of each situation. They possess a workable knowledge of all schedules and procedures in the Environmental Services Department.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1 year Hospital Environmental Services work experience required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Environmental Services standards, procedures, and functions.
  • Has basic math skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division and is able to read and write in English.
  • Ability to interact with patients, visitors, and all levels of hospital employees in an appropriate manner.
  • Good to excellent communication skills.
  • Availability to work variable hours and variable schedules including weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational trade school training or on-the-job training to become familiar with all hospital duties and to acquire working knowledge of procedure in housekeeping preferred.
  • Experience in a lead/supervisory position related to Environmental Services preferred.
  • Knowledge of cleaning procedures, record keeping, adjustment, and maintenance of power equipment.
