About The Position

Reporting to the Manager, Environment, the Lead, Environment provides leadership in regulatory compliance and environmental performance improvement at Line Creek Operations (LCO), focusing on strengthening systems, processes, and data quality to proactively address environmental risk through preventative programs and the effective management of LCO’s Health, Safety, Environment, Communities and Human Rights (HSEC&HR) Management System. Working within the HSEC&HR framework, this role translates standards and requirements into practical, implementable processes that enable consistent performance across LCO, facilitates incident investigations, supports field and office-based risk assessments, coordinates implementation of legal and compliance obligations, and drives the development, tracking, and effectiveness of corrective actions to ensure ongoing environmental compliance and performance improvement. The role is responsible for delivering accurate, decision-ready environmental performance insights, ensuring data integrity, identifying trends, and highlighting priority risk areas to inform leadership decisions. To be successful, we are looking for a self-motivated team player with excellent leadership, organization, and facilitation abilities; someone with the ability to manage challenging priorities and can move processes forward. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in operations, management systems such as ISO14001,data analysis, and environmental compliance. This person will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across all levels of multidisciplinary teams. This role presents a diverse range of challenges across multiple subject areas and requires a critical thinker with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Engineering or Science; an environmental related field is preferred
  • Hold a professional designation and meet the BC provincial requirements of a qualified professional for applicable programs is an asset
  • Minimum five years’ experience providing technical direction on environmental risks and challenges associated with resource management. Experience within a mining or industrial setting is considered an asset
  • Confident with influencing and supporting practical and process change across various disciplines and departments. Coordinate activities to foster a culture of environmental awareness and accountability
  • Experience with permit implementation, developing and implementing compliance programs and the development and implementation of Environmental Management Systems is an asset
  • Technical knowledge of federal and provincial compliance practices and regulations related to water and air quality, waste management, spill response, wildlife, fisheries and remediation.
  • Excellent project management experience with a track record that includes managing teams and technical direction of multiple projects and budgets
  • Proficient in environmental data management, analysis, reporting, and environmental databases
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and adhere to EVR’s standards and policies
  • Manage, maintain, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System (EMS) to achieve adherence to regulatory requirements and alignment with HSEC&HR standards
  • Support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of HSEC&HR standards by translating requirements into practical processes, tools, and tracking mechanisms that enable consistent execution
  • Collaborate closely with departments to develop or improve controls that address environment compliance obligations and risks
  • Track and report on progress against environmental performance metrics
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary problem-solving sessions related to compliance and known risk sources to implement a variety of corrective and preventive action plans
  • Build and conduct effectiveness reviews, assurance checks, and proactively identify areas of improvement
  • Track and report on progress against environmental performance metrics
  • Provide visible field leadership through frequent collaboration in the field and across departments
