About The Position

Lead electrical engineering design for projects involving processing of nuclear material, nuclear waste treatment, storage and disposal systems, and commercial nuclear power plants. The role leads a team of engineers and designers in designing, modifying, and analyzing new and existing electrical systems, and handles challenging assignments involving investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of electrical engineering issues. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining work from home and office work. The engineer coordinates detailed design phases, helps ensure projects meet schedule and budget, and ensures systems comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements. The role also includes preparing and reviewing calculations, design documentation, reports, studies, and equipment specifications; reviewing others' work; liaising with clients and vendors; and mentoring less experienced engineers. Employees are encouraged to learn and use relevant emerging technologies while applying professional judgment and reviewing technology-assisted work. Sargent & Lundy’s Government Services Division provides engineering design and consulting support to DOE sites, national laboratories, and NNSA laboratories and sites. Its work includes designing facilities, systems, and equipment for treating, storing, and disposing of nuclear waste and safely handling and processing nuclear material.
