About The Position

Lead a project team of engineers and designers in designing, modifying, and analyzing electrical systems supporting nuclear material processing, nuclear waste treatment, storage and disposal systems, and commercial nuclear power plants. The role involves challenging assignments in electrical design, investigation, troubleshooting, and problem solving. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining work from home and office work. The engineer coordinates detailed electrical design phases, ensures projects are delivered satisfactorily, on time, and within budget, and verifies that system designs comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements. The role also includes preparing and reviewing calculations, design documentation, procurement specifications, reports, and studies; reviewing others’ work; serving as a firm/client liaison; and mentoring less experienced engineers. Sargent & Lundy’s Government Services Division supports DOE sites, national laboratories, the DOE Environmental Management Directorate, and NNSA laboratories and sites. Its work includes designing facilities, systems, and equipment to treat, store, and dispose of nuclear waste and safely handle and process nuclear material. Employees may use data, automation, artificial intelligence, and other digital tools as relevant to their work, while remaining responsible for professional judgment and review.
