About The Position

Launch Potato is seeking a Lead BI Developer to own the reporting infrastructure that supports decision-making across its Credit Cards, Make Money/Manage Money, Banking, and Marketplace verticals. The role is embedded with the business and partners closely with Yield, Paid Media, and Account Management teams to investigate trends, analyze experiments, creatives, offers, seasonality, and customer acquisition cost (CAC) performance, and provide actionable insights. The position is intended for someone who takes responsibility for whether reporting is adopted, understood, and used to guide decisions—not just someone who builds dashboards and hands them off. The successful candidate will audit existing reporting, identify discrepancies and redundancies, and develop and execute a roadmap to standardize reporting. They will build business context and understanding of vertical-specific revenue models and performance levers, improve dashboard standardization, and fulfill ad hoc analytical requests accurately and with business context. They will develop an understanding of LookML structure and downstream impacts, establish trusted data sources, and deliver retrospective analysis and a standardized reporting suite that enables confident self-service analytics. Over time, the Lead BI Developer will become the trusted technical owner for assigned verticals, covering the process from raw data ingestion through final dashboard. The role requires expert SQL, comfort working with unstructured and complex third-party data, advanced LookML development or equivalent experience with Power BI or Tableau, and the ability to connect analysis to business decisions and performance marketing outcomes. The position has a growth path from technical execution into proactive analytical partnership.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in business intelligence or analytics.
  • Direct exposure to performance or affiliate marketing.
  • Expert SQL skills and comfort extracting accurate insights from raw, unstructured, complex data without relying on clean models.
  • Experience building, standardizing, and driving adoption of reporting, while improving data literacy.
  • Ability to connect data to performance marketing levers such as campaign performance, conversion rates, and revenue per session.
  • Advanced LookML development, or equivalent modeling experience in Power BI or Tableau, with understanding of downstream impacts.
  • Ability to ask questions and develop business knowledge to become a trusted analytical partner.
  • Experience owning reporting end-to-end, from pipeline through dashboard, is sought in the strongest candidates.
  • Experience working with messy, complex third-party data and partnering closely with business teams to identify trends, conduct retrospective analyses, and connect data work to business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Own the reporting infrastructure that powers decision-making across assigned business verticals.
  • Partner with Yield, Paid Media, and Account Management to uncover trends and provide actionable insights.
  • Audit existing reporting to identify discrepancies, redundancies, and inconsistencies, and develop a reporting-standardization roadmap.
  • Analyze experiments, creatives, offers, seasonality, and CAC performance retrospectively.
  • Improve dashboard standardization and fulfill ad hoc analytical requests accurately and with business context.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of how assigned verticals make money and their key performance levers.
  • Understand LookML structure and make changes with awareness of downstream impacts.
  • Develop trusted data sources that improve the efficiency of data consumption.
  • Educate business teams, promote best practices, and build a standardized reporting suite that supports self-service analytics.
  • Own assigned verticals' analytics end-to-end, from raw data ingestion through final dashboards.
  • Communicate findings with appropriate context and recommend actions rather than simply reporting results.
  • Engage stakeholders to understand how reporting is used and drive adoption of reporting products.
