About The Position

Protocol Behavioral Health is seeking an experienced, licensed Behavioral Healthcare Manager (BHCM) to provide clinical supervision and management of a team of BHCMs, while also delivering direct patient care. This role involves collaborating with clinical leadership to support evidence-based treatments within the Collaborative Care Model (CoCM) for cancer patients. The ideal candidate is data-driven, outcomes-focused, and skilled in motivating a team to achieve high-quality work. The company's mission is to improve cancer care by integrating specialized behavioral health and supportive care into oncology treatment teams, ensuring patients' emotional needs are met alongside their physical health.

Requirements

  • Licensed mental health provider with 2+ years of experience treating patients with chronic/serious medical illness.
  • 1+ years of experience leading a team.
  • Consistent use of data to support decision-making.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work on diverse teams.
  • Ability to balance business needs with clinical priorities.
  • Comfort in a fast-paced environment with frequent change.
  • Ability to support a caseload of patients with different diagnoses, backgrounds, cultures, and varying degrees of acuity.
  • Ability to deliver care in a virtual setting.
  • Experience supporting patients with suicidal ideation and/or trauma.
  • Ability to work virtual clinic hours in the Pacific Timezone.

Responsibilities

  • Provide training to BHCMs on evidence-based treatments for cancer patients.
  • Review BHCM sessions for quality assurance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for BHCMs and support them in achieving targets, including timely documentation.
  • Conduct audits of session notes to ensure compliance.
  • Identify and address challenges faced by BHCMs in collaboration with clinical leadership.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule during business hours for patient safety and risk assessment.
  • Evaluate BHCM job performance and develop improvement plans.
  • Conduct direct patient care using the Collaborative Care Model (CoCM), including structured assessments of mental and behavioral health, developing treatment plans, implementing treatment modules, and assessing progress.
  • Maintain a patient registry, participate in weekly consultations with psychiatrists, and communicate with oncology teams regarding patient progress and recommendations.
  • Maintain licensure in the home state and obtain licensure in other states as required by Protocol.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
