About The Position

The Hanover ALP is an exceptional opportunity for an early-in-career CPA aspiring to management to learn various aspects of accounting, SEC financial reporting and internal controls of a national Property & Casualty Insurer while developing leadership skills, receiving mentorship, and working toward a management position. This program is designed for high performers aiming for management positions. It combines 3 challenging 6 to 12-month job rotations with training in technical, industry, and leadership skills. It includes high-visibility projects, networking, and mentoring. The program provides diverse experiences across accounting disciplines. Each rotation is supervised by a management member in the specific discipline. It is focused on building skills, industry knowledge, and senior management exposure. Participants are paired with senior management mentors throughout the program. Leaders in the program are committed to participants’ growth and success. Participants will have tailored Individual Development Plans covering rotations, training, and developmental activities. There will be frequent meetings with leadership and the program director to track progress. Participants select a mentor for career guidance at Hanover Insurance. Paid training and professional education credits are offered. Topics include: management development, SEC reporting, insurance accounting, technology, and more. Rotations will be in Key Accounting Areas: SEC Reporting, Property & Casualty (P&C) Accounting, Controls Oversight, Financial Systems, Investment Accounting, Tax, and Financial Analysis.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 1+ years, up to 5 years of experience with a “Big 4” CPA firm.
  • Some portion of this experience must be in the attest function.
  • A current CPA license or actively pursuing a CPA license.
  • A track record of success, both academically and professionally.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities.
