About The Position

The Layout Designer works with customers, engineering, and order management teams to configure and visualize customer proposals through 2D renderings. The role focuses on the full apparatus configuration for Pumper Products and supports the creation of initial 2D layouts of fire apparatus based on customer specifications. The designer retains responsibility for layout drawings from the initial bid and drawing creation through manufacturing, including necessary revisions. With support from engineering and order management, the designer learns the pumper product range and works with combinations of more than 300,000 options. The designer's name appears on customer Approval Drawings, which customers sign to accept the design and order content.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent, with two years of drafting or design experience.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Self-starter and problem solver.
• Ability to communicate effectively as part of a multifunctional team.
• Detail-oriented and customer-focused.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in drafting or design.
• Experience with sales drawings and custom products.
• Prioritization and time-management skills when handling multiple demands on fixed timelines.

Responsibilities

• Use computer-aided drafting (CAD) systems and existing content to create 2D and 3D layouts in new configurations that follow Pulse order specifications.
• Work with engineering and order management teams to resolve specification conflicts and design layouts suited to the customer's apparatus mission profile.
• Self-check work for accuracy and retain ownership of layout drawings through multiple stage-gates.
• Support the layout drawing process from initial bid and drawing creation through manufacturing, including required revisions.
