Layout Designer - Drawing Coordination
About The Position
The Layout Designer works with customers, engineering, and order management teams to configure and visualize customer proposals for Pierce Pumper Products using 2D renderings. The role focuses on the overall apparatus configuration and supports the initial layout drawing based on customer specifications from the bid and drawing creation through manufacturing, including required revisions. The designer learns the range of pumper products and works with engineering and order management teams on configurations involving more than 300,000 options. The designer's name appears on approval drawings that customers sign to accept the design and order content.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent, with two years of experience in drafting or design.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Self-starter and problem solver.
- Ability to communicate effectively as part of a multifunctional team.
- Detail-oriented and customer-focused.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in drafting or design.
- Experience with sales drawings and custom products.
- Prioritization and time management skills when handling multiple demands on a fixed timeline.

Responsibilities
- Use computer-aided drafting (CAD) systems and existing content to create 2D and 3D layouts in new configurations based on Pulse order specifications.
- Work with engineering and order management teams to resolve specification conflicts and develop layouts suited to the customer's apparatus mission profile.
- Self-check work for accuracy and retain ownership of layout drawings through multiple stage-gates.
- Support layout drawings from initial bid and drawing creation through manufacturing, including necessary revisions.
