About The Position

The Laundry Helper performs duties across laundry production areas, from receiving items to be cleaned through preparing clean items for distribution. Depending on the assignment, the role may include handling linens, recording their weight or count, assisting with washers and dryers, sorting and preparing items for washing or ironing, folding, packing, operating laundry machines other than washers and extractors, and keeping equipment and work areas clean and safe. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Three months of on-the-job training are required to attain proficiency in assigned duties and responsibilities.
• Proper color vision to classify client linens and detect stains.

Responsibilities

• Receive and/or deliver linens to and from trucks and deliver them to designated areas.
• Record linen weight and/or count.
• Assist with loading or unloading washers and/or dryers.
• Sort linen into categories and prepare it for washing and/or ironing.
• Assist with hand folding items as needed.
• Pack linen into baskets, carts, or other containers for transport.
• Operate various laundry machines as directed, except washers and extractors.
• Maintain laundry equipment and the area in a clean and safe condition.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
