About The Position

The Laundry Attendant completes and coordinates the production needs of the laundry department for all departments at The Umstead Hotel & Spa. The role sorts, cleans, dries, folds, and stores laundry items; operates laundry machinery; and maintains the laundry room.

Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds at once from the laundry chute.

Responsibilities

• Sort dried articles according to type.
• Fold articles and place them in the appropriate storage area.
• Sort torn and stained articles.
• Sort and count articles to verify quantities on laundry requisitions.
• Soak contaminated articles and process them in a de-staining cycle.
• Clean lint traps and sweep the laundry room.
• Load articles into washers and add the specified amount of detergent, soap, or other cleaning agent by programming laundry machines.
• Operate laundry machinery such as washers, dryers, and ironers.
• Start machines that automatically wash and rinse articles using appropriate programmed chemical formulas.
• Lift clean, wet articles from washers and place them into dryers for measured time cycles.
• Weigh and log load poundage by properly sorted bin.
