About The Position

The Laundry Associate I supports hospital operations by handling clean and soiled linens and maintaining an adequate linen supply throughout the hospital. The role includes inspecting laundry for damage, stains, or items needing special treatment; operating laundry equipment; sorting, counting, folding, wrapping, or hanging laundry; and taking inventory and marking articles with identifying codes or names. The associate also helps maintain the laundry department and equipment in a clean and acceptable condition. The stated hours are 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. every third weekend and every third holiday. Travel is never or rarely required.

Requirements

Prior laundry experience.
Be detailed and well organized.
Use supplies, materials, and equipment effectively.
Follow directions communicated in a variety of ways.
Work independently with minimal supervision.
Operate laundry equipment.
Know personal protective equipment and hand hygiene.
Develop effective relationships with patients, hospital departments, and other external parties.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
One year of laundry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Deliver clean linens to all areas of the hospital and ensure an adequate linen supply is available.
Maintain the laundry department and laundry equipment in clean and acceptable condition.
Gather soiled linens, inspect them, and identify items requiring special treatment.
Operate washers, dryers, and extractors, and regulate machine processes and the volume of soap, detergent, water, bleach, starch, and other additives.
Sort and count articles removed from dryers, then fold, wrap, or hang them.
Take inventory counts for assigned units.
Mark laundry articles with identifying code numbers or names.
