Associate Attorney, Traverse City, Michigan
About The Position
The firm is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join its consumer protection practice in Michigan. The position handles a varied range of transactional and civil litigation matters involving consumer protection, including claims related to contract law and other areas of consumer law. The attorney will manage and supervise a heavy, diversified caseload, communicate with clients and opposing parties, and conduct legal research and draft legal documents. The role is based from home, with required travel for in-court appearances. Because the firm's headquarters are in New York, communication with the main office takes place exclusively by telephone and electronic means, such as email and Microsoft Teams. Candidates must be located in or within commuting distance of Traverse City, Michigan.
Requirements
- Currently admitted to practice law in Michigan.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience at a law firm.
- Superior organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Highest ethical standards and professional integrity.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with senior management and employees at all organizational levels.
- Strong legal research skills.
- Located in or within commuting distance of Traverse City, Michigan.

Responsibilities
- Maintain and supervise a heavy and diversified caseload of the firm's clients in Michigan.
- Communicate with clients regarding their matters.
- Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda, and review and draft agreements.
- Communicate with opposing parties to resolve or settle claims.
- Conduct legal research on simple and complex issues in contract law and other areas of consumer law.
- Travel for in-court appearances.
