About The Position

The firm is a consumer protection law firm that represents consumers who have been harassed or deceived by creditors and debt collectors. It is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney for its Michigan practice. The role involves a broad range of consumer protection legal issues, including transactional and civil litigation matters. Although the position is based from home, the attorney must be located in or within commuting distance of Muskegon, Michigan, and must travel for court appearances. The attorney will communicate with the New York headquarters exclusively by telephone and electronic means, such as email and Microsoft Teams.

Requirements

Currently admitted to practice law in Michigan.
At least 1 year of relevant experience at a law firm.
Superior organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Highest ethical standards and professional integrity.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with senior management and employees at all levels throughout the organization.
Strong legal research skills.

Responsibilities

Maintain and supervise a heavy and diversified caseload of the firm’s clients in Michigan.
Communicate with clients regarding their matters.
Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda, and review and draft agreements.
Communicate with opposing parties to resolve or settle claims.
Conduct legal research on simple and complex issues in contract law and other areas of consumer law.
Travel for in-court appearances.
