About The Position

The Large Loss Inside Property Contents Adjuster handles complex and escalated property contents claims virtually for customers in New York or New Jersey. The role investigates losses, reviews coverage and policy application, uses video technology to work with onsite vendors to identify damage and prepare contents estimates, and negotiates settlements. The adjuster coordinates with structure adjusters and uses data and analytics to support claim decisions.

The role requires compassionate, clear customer communication through phone, email, and sometimes video, with updates tailored to the customer’s communication preferences. The adjuster documents claim activity accurately and promptly in the claims system, follows policy agreements and applicable legal and business methodologies, and uses estimating tools, job aids, and settlement platforms. The job is remote, with work-from-home requirements including a dedicated private workspace and reliable internet.

Requirements

• Four or more years of experience using estimating software such as Xactimate for complex contents estimating (preferred qualification).
• Previous experience handling property insurance claims (preferred qualification).
• Clear and professional written and verbal communication.
• Ability to organize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently.
• A dedicated, private home workspace free from distractions, appropriate desk and seating, and reliable internet with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload.
• Obtain an adjuster and/or appraiser license within 60 days of hire if required for the office or area, including passing an additional background check.

Responsibilities

• Handle escalated claims files involving complex contents.
• Conduct thorough coverage investigations and ensure the policy is applied correctly.
• Use video technology to collaborate with onsite vendors, identify damage, and write contents damage estimates.
• Communicate empathetically with customers and guide them through the claims process.
• Negotiate claim settlements with customers, vendors, third-party carriers, and claimants in accordance with legal and business methodologies.
• Coordinate with structure adjusters to support holistic claim handling.
• Use data and analytics to support decisions and influence outcomes.
• Investigate property claims by reviewing damage and interpreting policies to determine coverage.
• Communicate with customers by phone, email, and sometimes video, tailoring communication to their preferences and keeping them updated.
• Use critical thinking and available estimating tools, job aids, and settlement platforms to resolve claims.
• Maintain timely and accurate claim documentation in the claims system.
• Follow policy agreements and protect the company financially through appropriate claim handling.
