About The Position

Charles Taylor Adjusting is seeking a Large Loss Casualty Crisis Management Adjuster for its successful and long-standing Miami Practice. This global practice focuses on the US, Canada, Caribbean, and LATAM regions, serving national and international insurance companies, Lloyd's syndicates, and reinsurers. The role involves handling complex casualty claims with a focus on Commercial Casualty segments, as well as Crisis Management and Product Recall. Key areas of focus include Crisis Management and Product Recall claims such as accidental contamination, food and beverage recalls, automotive components, consumer, medical, and pharmaceutical product recalls, container and packaging liability, malicious product contamination, product extortion, and kidnap and ransom. The role also covers General Third Party Liability, including Employer's Liability, Products Liability, Contractors' Liability, Onshore Energy Liability, Environmental Liability, Professional Indemnity, Construction and Design Defect Liability, Medical Malpractice, and Toxic Tort.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree level or higher
  • Five years' insurance and reinsurance international adjusting experience.
  • The candidate must hold a Florida driver's license and passport from country of nationality.
  • Acquire or hold a Florida State 620 All Lines Adjuster license.
  • Deep knowledge of insurance, reinsurance, and loss adjusting principles in Casualty classes.
  • Direct background with low-frequency high severity casualty loss adjusting - values north of $10 Million.
  • Exposure to Crisis Management and Product Recall losses of parallel scale and scope.
  • Knowledge of the local insurance industry in the USA and selective LATAM and Caribbean territories, and the London Market.
  • Excellent oral communication skills in English for dealing with clients, Insureds, and brokers.
  • The post holder will be responsible for preparing reports and other written communications in English.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills coupled with executive presence demonstrate the ability to influence at all enterprise levels.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and perform under pressure.
  • Proactive and able to work with management guidance and demonstrate self-driven initiative.
  • Demonstrate good personal management and manage the workload relating to various cases and marketing projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to deal with various tasks and deadlines simultaneously, recommending practical solutions within the scope of the level.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day loss investigations, adjusting, marketing, business development, and claim management focused on low volume high severity (+$10MM), Casualty, and Crisis Management, claims.
  • Receive instructions on new complex losses from UK, European, USA, and Latin American Markets requiring specialist knowledge and report to the Managing Director Casualty and Crisis Management with recommendations for personal intervention.
  • Carry out pre-agreed briefs relating to specialist loss adjusting assignments, reporting to the Managing Director Casualty and Crisis Management upon completion and during execution, potentially requiring domestic or international travel at short notice.
  • Assist the existing practice with the inflow of new losses and claims management projects requiring specialist knowledge and experience (Losses typically $10 to $50 Million and Larger).
  • Assist the practice with occasional special projects outside standard loss adjusting, such as reinsurance reviews, coverholder audits, expert witness intervention, fraud investigation, and other consultancy assignments.
  • Review specialist assignment or project-related advice, advise the team on relevance, and make recommendations.
  • Assist the Charles Taylor US Adjusting Practice in identifying new business opportunities and acquiring new accounts through accompanied and unaccompanied marketing.
  • Communicate with Underwriters, reinsurers, and brokers to ensure customer service standards are met and maintained.
  • Ensure compliance with reporting deadlines and delivery of other time-sensitive materials.
  • Assist the practice team with operational or administrative issues associated with caseload, especially in areas of specialist knowledge and previous professional experience.
  • Assist the practice with marketing and business development, including attendance at designated meetings, seminars, and conferences.
  • Assume responsibility for a portfolio of complex claims (30 to 40 cases of typical losses over $10 Million) and other consultancy assignments, to be case managed under mentorship.
  • Build an Underwriter, Reinsurer, and Broker client base developed from managed cases, client contact, and attendance at meetings and events.
