Language Instructor(s)– Adult & Older Adult Programs
About The Position
Language Instructor(s) are responsible for planning and delivering high-quality structured lessons that teach the linguistic aspects of language while also introducing students to the cultural contexts that give languages their richness and depth. We welcome immersive and innovative teaching approaches to language acquisition and development that support adult learners. Classes will be ongoing or short-term, depending on interest and availability with sessions typically running over several weeks or months. Classes are typically 90 minutes delivered in person. Programs are subject to minimum enrollment.
Requirements
- Language teaching certification and/ or educational equivalency with prior teaching experience
- Prior experience facilitating language-based programs and teaching (formal or informal)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Passion for teaching language to adults
- Reliable, organized, and adaptable
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Responsibilities
- Design and lead engaging, well-structured lessons with clearly defined outcomes
- Weave cultural teachings into lessons that provide historical significance and meaningful social insights
- Maintain a safe, lively and inclusive learning environment
- Adapt programming to meet the cultural interests and skills of the students and employ best practices
- Manage basic teaching materials and setup
