About The Position

The Laborer works in the Public Services Department’s Public Works – Solid Waste Division, performing routine and heavy manual work of a semi-skilled nature. Duties may involve simple hand tools and equipment, as well as brush and leaf removal equipment. Work includes picking up, removing, and disposing of refuse, leaves, and brush. The position requires the ability to perform heavy manual work in varying weather conditions and to follow simple oral and written instructions. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. A high school diploma or GED is strongly preferred. A pre-employment drug screen is required. Normal work hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The position is open until filled.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be able to perform heavy manual work in varying weather conditions.
Must have the ability to understand and interpret simple oral and written instructions.
Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with coworkers.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more, reach overhead, twist, bend, climb, kneel, and squat.
A high school diploma or GED is strongly preferred.
A pre-employment drug screen is required.
