Laborer (Landfill)

About The Position

The Laborer is responsible for safely and efficiently performing general labor duties at a landfill. Duties may include yard clean-up, fueling vehicles and equipment, general vehicle operation, general office maintenance, and other related work. The role involves sorting and inspecting incoming loads, directing transportation, maintaining equipment, and supporting facility compliance and safety. The successful candidate is self-directed and able to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Dedication to safety and a proven commitment to work.
Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods.
Ability to work under different weather conditions.
Ability to lift 50 pounds throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

Sort incoming loads to ensure materials are accepted and handled appropriately for disposal.
Inspect work areas and incoming loads to ensure compliance with facility and material acceptance standards.
Direct incoming and outgoing transportation to ensure it is controlled in compliance with safety, environmental, and other regulatory requirements.
Clean and fuel equipment as needed.
Maintain professionalism in facility management and compliance.
Participate in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, sales, and services.
Perform other duties needed to support the company’s vision, mission, and core values.
