About The Position

Performs front desk and phlebotomy duties in an ambulatory laboratory setting. Responsibilities include completing demographic and insurance registration, scheduling patients and/or verifying insurance information, collecting phlebotomy specimens, and conducting sample quality checks. The role requires full certification in patient registration and phlebotomy, along with other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited program in Phlebotomy.
• More than 10 years of phlebotomy experience.
• 3–4 years of medical office experience.
• General understanding and application of basic accounting principles.
• PC proficiency.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Accurate data entry skills.
• Current knowledge of payer requirements for referrals and pre-authorization.
• Knowledge of a computerized billing system.
• Full certification in patient registration and phlebotomy.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient demographic and insurance registration.
• Schedule patients and/or verify insurance information.
• Collect phlebotomy specimens and perform quality checks on samples.
• Demonstrate knowledge of FPI practices, including payer contracts, policies, and best practices.
• Manage provider schedules and accurately schedule appointments, communicating patient responsibilities and other pre-visit activities.
• Collect co-payments and outstanding balances and post payments accurately using the GE Front Desk Credit Card Module.
• Obtain and verify patient demographic and insurance information in support of the revenue cycle and payment for services.
• Follow FPI and departmental policies and procedures and promote positive guest relations through courteous, open communication with patients and referral sources.
• Confirm that written orders on requisitions match specimen labels.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
