About The Position

Performs front desk and phlebotomy duties in an ambulatory laboratory setting. Responsibilities include completing demographic and insurance registration, scheduling patients or verifying insurance information, collecting phlebotomy specimens, and conducting quality checks of samples. The role requires full certification in patient registration and phlebotomy, along with other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be fully certified in patient registration and phlebotomy.
• Completion of an accredited program in Phlebotomy.
• General understanding and application of basic accounting principles.
• PC proficiency.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Accurate data entry skills.
• Current knowledge of payer requirements for referrals and pre-authorization.
• Knowledge of a computerized billing system.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous medical office experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage provider schedules and schedule appointments accurately, communicating patient responsibilities and other pre-visit activities.
• Collect co-payments and outstanding balances and post payments accurately and efficiently in the GE Front Desk Credit Card Module.
• Obtain and verify patient demographic and insurance information to support payment for services rendered.
• Follow relevant FPI and departmental policies and procedures.
• Promote positive guest relations and communicate courteously and openly with patients and referral sources.
• Confirm that written orders on the requisition match the specimen label.
• Perform patient registration, insurance verification, phlebotomy specimen collection, and sample quality checks.
