About The Position

Pillen Family Farms is a family-owned business in Nebraska that markets approximately 1.4 million pigs annually. The Lab Technician works closely with a team of 4 to 5 individuals to evaluate, process, package, and ship semen from the lab, boar stud, and isolation barn. The role involves preparing semen collections for evaluation, dispensing extender with ejaculates, operating packaging machines, entering dose-label information, performing semen mobility analysis, and recording data. The technician must comply with bio-security, safety, and animal welfare policies.

Requirements

• Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
• Frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to push and pull up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk for 8 hours every day.

Responsibilities

• Prepare semen collections for evaluation, including accurate dilutions with a pipette.
• Operate an automatic dispensing station to dispense extender with ejaculates.
• Operate packaging machines, accurately enter dose-label information, and lift and move pools of semen.
• Analyze semen mobility and enter the data.
• Comply with bio-security, safety, and animal welfare policies.
