About The Position
Saint Luke's is seeking a phlebotomist/lab support technician who is confident in their skills, patient-focused, positive, and willing to go above and beyond for their patients and peers. Phlebotomy experience is preferred, but not required. We are looking for professionals who like to multi-task and stay busy, and are able to adapt to rapidly changing laboratory workflow. The job is 50% phlebotomy and 50% specimen processing.
Requirements
- Less than 1 year of applicable experience
- Laboratory Technician - American Society for Clinical Pathology
- Diploma
Nice To Haves
- Phlebotomy experience is preferred
Responsibilities
- Collects patient specimens in accordance with laboratory's policy, procedures and regulatory standards.
- Correlates patient samples to provider laboratory test orders in the LIS/EMR.
- Performs and reports Point of Care laboratory testing as required.
- Uses education and experience to identify and resolve patient circumstances that might interfere with accurate sample collection.
- Communicates effectively with nursing and unit staff to relay information concerning patient collections.
