About The Position

Saint Luke’s is seeking a patient-focused, positive Lab Support Technician to perform phlebotomy and some laboratory processing work. The position is suited to someone who can multitask, stay busy, adapt to rapidly changing laboratory workflow, and provide service to patients and peers. Phlebotomy experience is preferred but not required; some experience is preferred.

This is a 12-hour night-shift position, 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., with three shifts per week and a rotating weekend requirement every third week.

Requirements

• Able to multitask, stay busy, and adapt to rapidly changing laboratory workflow.
• Applicable experience: less than one year.

Nice To Haves

• Phlebotomy experience is preferred but not required.
• Some experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient specimens in accordance with laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Correlate patient samples with provider laboratory test orders in the LIS/EMR.
• Perform and report point-of-care laboratory testing as required.
• Use education and experience to identify and resolve patient circumstances that could interfere with accurate sample collection.
• Communicate effectively with nursing and unit staff about patient collections.
