About The Position

Saint Luke's is seeking a full-time day shift Lab Support Tech to collect patient samples using best practices for phlebotomy. The technician documents receipt of patient samples in the Lab Information System (LIS) and prepares them for analysis. The role performs collections at Bishop Spencer Place nursing home and follows laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• Applicable experience: less than 1 year.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in laboratory work and phlebotomy is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient specimens using best practices for phlebotomy and in accordance with laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Document receipt of patient samples in the LIS and prepare samples for analysis.
• Correlate patient samples to provider laboratory test orders in the LIS/EMR.
• Perform and report Point of Care laboratory testing as required.
• Use education and experience to identify and resolve patient circumstances that might interfere with accurate sample collection.
• Communicate with nursing and unit staff about patient collections.
