Lab Support Technician
About The Position
Saint Luke’s Mission Farms is seeking a Phlebotomist, Lab Support Technician to support its lab team. The role collects patient samples using phlebotomy best practices, documents receipt of patient samples in the Lab Information System (LIS), and prepares samples for analysis. The position follows laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, identifies and resolves patient circumstances that could interfere with accurate sample collection, and communicates collection-related information to nursing and unit staff. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with rotating Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Requirements
- Phlebotomy Technician (ASCP) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
- Applicable experience: less than 1 year.
Responsibilities
- Collect patient samples using phlebotomy best practices.
- Document receipt of patient samples in the Lab Information System (LIS) and prepare them for analysis.
- Collect patient specimens in accordance with laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Identify and resolve patient circumstances that might interfere with accurate sample collection.
- Communicate information concerning patient collections to nursing and unit staff.
