About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Lab Demonstrator position in the ERSC 3P92 course for the Fall D2-1 term. The nominal workload for this position is 10 hours per week, consisting of 6 hours of demonstrating and 4 hours of marking and lab preparation. Duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement. The role involves presenting an introduction to the lab, demonstrating the proper use of photo equipment and software, teaching and assisting students during the lab, maintaining safe lab conditions, preparing and cleaning the lab, marking lab assignments, signing out photo/survey equipment, offering online help to students, and attending meetings as needed. Compensation is based on qualifications, with an undergraduate rate of $22.07 per hour for those without a 4-year honours or 3-year pass degree, and a graduate rate of $34.73 per hour for those with such a degree. Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.

Requirements

Must have taken ERSC/GEOG 3P92 or submit a digital portfolio demonstrating equivalent skill set (e.g., small object photography, 3D model production, photogrammetry and the use of Adobe Photoshop and Agisoft Metashape Pro software).
Minimum of an undergraduate degree in Earth Sciences (or equivalent) or be enrolled in a graduate program in the geosciences.
Equivalency will be determined by the course instructor.
