About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Lab Demonstrator for HLSC 2P07 in the Fall D2-16 term. The nominal workload for this position is 10 hours per week, consisting of 6 hours demonstrating and 4 hours of marking and lab preparation. Duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement. The incumbent will work under the direction of the Senior Lab Instructor, be familiar with laboratory procedures, present an introduction to the lab, demonstrate laboratory techniques, teach and assist students during the lab, maintain safe lab conditions, be responsible for lab preparation and cleanup, mark lab reports, and attend meetings as needed. Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in Health Sciences or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated competency in biostatistics.
  • Demonstrated skills in statistical software (specifically R).
  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide constructive feedback.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet agreed upon deadlines.
  • Available to provide feedback in person and, when required, online.

Nice To Haves

  • Brock fourth year (honours) students in Health Sciences or related discipline will be considered if vacancies remain.
  • For Brock undergraduate applicants, the incumbent must be at the fourth-year level of an honors program and have completed this course successfully.
  • Prior experience in teaching biostatistics laboratory is an asset.
  • Experience or training with online synchronous and asynchronous course support.
  • Proficiency with online delivery tools (e.g., Lifesize, Microsoft Teams, Brightspace), computer spreadsheets (e.g., Excel), and electronic audience response systems.
