About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Course Coordinator for HLSC 2P07 for the Fall D2 term. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) Biostatistics I Compensation Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator roles. The pay rate depends on the employee's qualifications, with an undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour and a graduate rate of $36.67 per hour (effective September 1, 2026). The Course Coordinator reports to the Department Chair or Course Instructor and is responsible for overseeing seminar/tutorial/lab sections, coordinating Teaching Assistants, assisting with marking schemes and coordinating the marking of assignments and exams, and performing other related duties as required by the course instructor.

Requirements

  • A completed undergraduate degree in Health Sciences or related discipline is required
  • Proficiency in biostatistics and knowledge of related software, particularly SAS and R
  • Proficiency with online delivery tools (e.g., Lifesize, Microsoft Teams, Brightspace), computer spreadsheets (e.g., Excel), and electronic audience response systems
  • Superior organizational, information-management, time-management and problem-solving skills
  • Highly developed communication skills with proven ability to accurately relay information among university faculty and staff, students, and service providers (e.g., tech support)
  • Ability to attend scheduled lectures and tests/examinations if required
  • Experience or training with online synchronous and asynchronous course support
  • Available to provide feedback in person and, when required, online

Nice To Haves

  • Previous course coordination experience (particularly with large courses in health sciences)

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the seminar/tutorial/lab sections for a particular course
  • Coordinating Teaching Assistants/Lab Demonstrators/Marker-Graders and holding meetings with them
  • Assisting in the preparation of marking schemes and coordinating the marking of course assignments and/or midterm, progress and final exams
  • Any other related duties as may be required by the course instructor
