Lab Chemist- Wilkesboro, NC- 1st Shift
About The Position
The Lab Chemist performs procedures and work instructions in a food safety laboratory, which may include chemistry, analytical, microbiological, or quality system work. Precision and accuracy in following instructions and collecting data are essential. Team members are expected to demonstrate proficiency and growth after training. The role requires the ability to perform complex work and operate sophisticated equipment without close supervision, work independently, and resolve routine problems. The chemist may assist with planning, developing, modifying, validating, and evaluating testing applications and results; maintain ISO records; follow quality-system and safety requirements; and cross-train to substitute for absent team members in specific areas. Other duties may be assigned. This role does not include management duties and does not support sponsorship; candidates must reside in the United States.
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Good reading, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and LabWare LIMS applications.
- Must reside in the United States.
- Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Individual contributors are expected to integrate AI into daily work, critically evaluate outputs, and use professional judgment.
Nice To Haves
- College-level courses or a degree in chemistry, microbiology, or a related science field.
- Previous laboratory experience or technical training in a related field.
Responsibilities

- Assist in planning, development, method modification, validation, and evaluation of new or existing testing applications and test results.
- Maintain ISO records for process control and comply with quality system and safety requirements.
- Cross-train and substitute for absent team members in specific areas.

- Demonstrate responsible use of approved AI tools, protect sensitive information, follow company policies, and validate AI-generated outputs.
