Lab Assistant - Tyler, Texas
About The Position
The Lab Assistant supports the patient care process by ensuring laboratory specimens are properly processed, prepared, routed, and stored. The role involves recognizing when corrective action is needed and implementing effective solutions, while championing safety, compliance, and quality control. Work takes place in a laboratory environment with biological hazards and PPE requirements. The position is based in Tyler, Texas, and is full-time, benefit-eligible, with a 1st shift schedule of 40 hours per week. The role has routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI); employees must maintain strict confidentiality, follow applicable privacy and security standards, and access PHI only as required to perform their duties.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous training or experience in specimen collection or processing.
- Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including telephones, computers, centrifuges, and audible alarms.
Nice To Haves
- 1–2 years of related experience in a clinical laboratory, data entry, or production.
