About The Position

The Common Law Section is seeking candidates who are leaders in the legal profession. An LL.B., J.D. or equivalent degree is required for this position. Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario, or an equivalent body, is also necessary. Prior teaching experience will be considered an asset. The Common Law Section reserves the right to select a candidate who does not fully meet each of these requirements if their selection is deemed beneficial to the program, the course, the students, or for any other related reason. An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching experience will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the history, essential characteristics of trusts, types of trusts including express, resulting and constructive trusts, private trusts, charitable and non-charitable trusts.
  • Cover the administration of a trust and the remedies of a beneficiary in case of maladministration.
  • Discuss the effects of various statutes on trust law.
  • Explain the realization and variation of individual trusts.
