About The Position

Gelson’s is hiring a Kitchen Production Team member to support the daily operations of its kitchen department at the Pacific Beach location. The position prepares food according to Gelson’s recipes and quality standards, monitors product quality and freshness, supports kitchen staff, and provides excellent customer service. Team members must follow company policies and health and safety regulations, work a varied schedule, and be flexible in taking on other duties as needed.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Superior knife skills and strong working knowledge of food service operations.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a grocery retail setting.

Responsibilities

Prepare and present salads, sandwiches, pizzas, pasta, dressings, entrees, and catering offerings.
Prepare salad production from scratch and finish previously prepared items.
Prepare proteins, entrees, and side dishes using techniques such as baking, frying, grilling, roasting, and steaming.
Apply knowledge of cooking techniques and terminology, and monitor food quality against Gelson’s standards.
Monitor product quality, freshness, and presentation, and rotate merchandise according to store policy.
Support kitchen department staff and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
Provide excellent customer service and respond appropriately in customer interactions.
Comply with company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
Adapt to new challenges and take on responsibilities as needed, including other duties as required.
