About The Position

The Kitchen Prep Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality food according to recipe specifications and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen. This role supports the kitchen team by preparing ingredients, stocking stations, and ensuring food is prepared consistently and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of kitchen preparation or cooking experience preferred.
  • Strong knife skills and ability to follow recipes accurately.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working in confined areas and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong communication skills and professionalism with coworkers.
  • English and Spanish fluency preferred.
  • Attention to detail with knowledge of measurements, food preparation, and cooking procedures.
  • Ability to bend, reach, twist, and continuously use hands and arms.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
  • Ability to work in high-temperature kitchen environments.
  • Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and cooking procedures.
  • Flexible availability, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • California Food Handler Card required for all employees who prepare, store, or serve food.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare meats, poultry, vegetables, sauces, stocks, and other food items using various kitchen equipment.
  • Follow recipes, portion sizes, cooking methods, and food quality standards.
  • Prepare and portion ingredients according to recipe specifications.
  • Keep the workstation clean, organized, and sanitary, including tables, shelves, grills, fryers, burners, and refrigeration areas.
  • Stock the kitchen line and prep areas with essential items needed for service.
  • Store and rotate food using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) system.
  • Notify the Kitchen Manager of product shortages or equipment issues.
  • Use standard recipe cards when preparing all food items.
  • Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures to ensure guest safety.
  • Assist cooks and kitchen staff with additional tasks as needed.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Kitchen Manager or Manager on Duty.
