Associate - Kitchen Prep Cook
About The Position
The Kitchen Prep Cook supports food preparation and case presentation at Joseph’s Classic Market, helping ensure display cases reflect the freshness, quality, and attention to detail expected of the store’s gourmet foods. The role provides hands-on experience in food preparation, kitchen operations, and safety standards, with opportunities to develop culinary and organizational skills and pursue future roles within the Kitchen, Prepared Foods, or other departments. The position works primarily in the Kitchen department and involves extended periods of standing and walking, moving products weighing up to 80 pounds, and working in preparation rooms and refrigerated coolers with varying temperatures. Frequent interaction with fellow team members is an essential part of the role.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic math and reading skills.
- Strong attention to detail and visual presentation.
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude.
- A passion for serving people.
Nice To Haves
- Food preparation or kitchen experience.
- Food safety knowledge or ServSafe certification.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and execute Joseph’s recipes for proteins, vegetables, starches, and other menu items.
- Maintain product freshness and sanitation standards.
- Plate, package, and present items according to quality and appearance standards.
- Replenish and rotate products and maintain display cases.
- Operate knives, ovens, stoves, grills, scales, wrapping machines, and other Kitchen equipment.
- Assist with other tasks as assigned.
